Great Wood raised money to support Children in Need. Our children (and staff) dressed in spots, bright colours and Pudsey onesies, to raise funds for the extremely worthwhile campaign. In addition to dressing up, Lesley and Jan made Pudsey biscuits. We would like to thank all of our Great Wood family for your generosity and kindness. Your fantastic support will enable many children, who really need our help, to receive the assistance they are desperate for.

Pupils at Great Wood took part in the Remembrance on Wednesday 11th November. Year 6 pupils remembered those who fought in the Great War and laid a wreath on both the war memorials in Tean. The Royal British Legion are thankful for the fundraising the pupils have supported again this year.

Our year 3 children have been helping our birds, as part of their science work. Children were asked to bring in a plastic bottle, which they then converted to bird feeders! They filled their amazing, handmade, bird-feeders with nuts and seeds. Next they put their fantastic creations around the school grounds, for our birds to enjoy. Excellent work year 3!

We would like to send a huge thank you to all our children for wearing Autumn colours this year, instead of our Harvest sale of goods. Your donations were extremely generous and we managed to raise an amazing £99.70 for Tean and Checkley OAP Association.
Thank you again, you are all amazing!

Mrs Rees’ class went on a hunt around school grounds for natural resources to use in their Harvest artwork. They had great fun collecting leaves, twigs, nuts, acorns and much more! They are now going to use nature in their art masterpieces.

On Monday 28th September, the school took part in the Nationwide ‘Big Anti-Bullying Assembly’. Pupils watched an online assembly that discussed the impact of bullying and how to address the issues associated with bullying. The assembly was led by a host of celebrities who were campaigning to ‘Raise their hand to end bullying’, including England manager Gareth Southgate and Anti-Bullying Ambassador Peter Andre. Children demonstrated their knowledge from a series of questions and discussion points which led to them pledging an end to bullying and to know what to do if bullying happens to them.

We would like to thank all our families, for embracing our very different Macmillan fundraiser. You have all been extremely generous and we have raised a staggering £282.62.
These challenging times are forcing us to think alternative ways to carry out our normal events and your support is very much appreciated.
We are sure that Macmillan will be very grateful for your amazing donations.
Thank you!
