The Poppy Party was celebrated in fine style this year and was well attended by the Royal British Legion and members of the local community. Pupils led the Remembrance Service at the beginning of the evening; most were dressed in school uniform, however some came in Brownie/Cubs/Guides uniform. During the presentation the school were thanked for their fundraising with a superb total of £430. The pupils enjoyed the buffet and then entertained the guests with songs from the 1930’s/40’s followed by some poetry that they had written in class, with it all culminating with a few Christmas classics to finish the evening off. The guests commented on how “fabulous” our pupils are and that they are “a credit to the school”. We look forward to welcoming the RBL back for Christmas Dinner and Nativity Performance on December 5th.

Pupils across the school enjoyed an assembly led by Stoke City. They learnt about the club and what it is like to experience a day at the football. The year 2’s were especially excited because they have become members of Stoke City7’s and all received a goodie pack with free tickets and a club shirt. All the school have been invited to the Boxing Day match against Sheffield Wednesday, it would be great to see you there cheering on Stoke City.

Year 6 pupils visited Cheadle Fire Station to take part in the Safe and Sound project that is run to educate young children about keeping themselves safe in a variety of situations. The pupils learnt about anti-social behaviour from the police, CPR from St. John’s, Fire safety from Staffordshire Fire Service, Relationship Awareness from New Era and from NatWest they learnt about managing your money. The pupils enjoyed the interaction and learning from all the presentations and now feel more knowledgable about keeping safe around their local environment.

We are delighted to share the exciting news that our friends at The Cheadle Academy have been undertaking something amazing for a very special cause.
On Friday 15th November, The Cheadle Academy Sixth Form Choir released their charity single 'My Oh My', which has been recorded in conjunction with Staffordshire University and the Dougie Mac Hospice.
The choir have been operating for two years and have, to date, raised an incredible £22,000 in memory of the school's wonderful former Senior Assistant Principal, Craig Beverley, who sadly passed away three years ago. We are proud that a number of former pupils from our family of schools have also been involved and, as a Trust, we fondly remember working with Craig.
The song, which is one from Craig's old band (he was a talented musician), can be purchased through:
https://www.facebook.com/The Cheadle Academy/
There are numerous stories and videos of the progression of the choir over the last 18 months in the build up to the single release on the link too.
Good luck and we think that what you are doing is incredible!

This half term children have been enjoying Bug Club with Rent a Beast. They have met stick insects, huge bugs and tarantellas! This is one of our children’s favourite clubs and was extremely well attended. They all had an amazing time meeting their crawly friends!

As part of this years Remembrance, the school took an active part in the local community events. Pupils laid a wreath at the Tean War Memorial and one at the Church memorial. Seven year five pupils read out the soldiers’ and service personnel’s names, who died during World War One. During the church service, pupils read out WW1 poems to the congregation. After the service the congregation were invited to school for refreshments and a chance to come together as a community.
