Huge congratulations to our amazing Y3/4 Tag Rugby team who won the CADSSA championships in Uttoxeter.
The ten young players showed exceptional skills to win each of their six matches and with it claim the title of CADSSA Y3/4 Tag Rugby Champions 2019.
We are very proud of not only their rugby skills but also their perfect attitude and sporting behaviour throughout the whole event.
Very, very well done...champs!

Sadly, due to unsafe conditions, 'Sports Day' was unable to take place as planned on Tuesday 4th June.
We will contact parents and carers shortly with a new date and hopefully you can come and join us for our new-look event featuring different stations and activities for the children to enjoy.
Fingers crossed that the weather is better next time!

A number of pupils from Key Stage 1 and 2 joined representatives from our sister schools to take part in a special mathematics event, hosted by our friends at Bishop Rawle C.E. (A) Primary.
Organised by TMPF Maths team, the event was led by The Happy Puzzle Company and included challenges linked to teamwork, education and, of course, fun. The young mathematicians worked through problems and overcame challenges whilst learning that every puzzle can be solved by using the right strategies and effective teamwork.

We were delighted to welcome eight other schools to St. Werburgh's C.E. (A) Primary for the Cheadle and District Schools Sports Association (CADSSA) Y5/6 tag rugby festival.
All of the players showed a real development of their skills during the festival and some beautiful rugby was played in every match. The support from staff, parents, grandparents, family and friends was wonderful to see and contributed to a very special afternoon. It was fabulous to see so many examples of sportsman/womanship and so many children playing and watching with a big smile.
St. Werburgh's C.E. (A) Primary played magnificently throughout and finished as runners-up to the joint winners: our sister school, Great Wood Primary, and St. John's. A big 'well done' to all who represented their schools, and to those from St. Werburgh's who so kindly represented our other sister schools of The Valley and Dilhorne Endowed C.E. (A) Primary (we are very proud of you!). Thanks also to all of the supporters, staff and the excellent Y6 touch judges from Year 6.

Children in Y3, 4 and 5 have been combining their artistry and creativity with their learning from history lessons to not only design and create Iron Age models, but also to then invite parents to an exhibition of their work.
In addition to displaying the work, which included hand-drawn designs, ICT presentations, and 3D models, the children each spoke to the visitors about what they had included and the reasons why they chose to do so.
Year 3/4 artist, Will (9), said, “These lessons were fun. I love History, so I really enjoyed learning about, and making, the model.”
Isla (10), one of the Y4/5 artists, added, “The models were very artistic and imaginative. Everyone enjoyed planning and creating them and we all had lots of fun!”
The school are very proud of all of the children for their work and for how clearly and confidently they talked about their art to the visitors.

An enormous congratulations to our wonderful Y5/6 Tag Rugby team for reaching the semi-finals of the School Games Staffordshire Moorlands tournament at Leek RUFC.
The team played brilliantly throughout every game to reach the semi-final and each of the 11 stars showed an amazing sporting attitude and superb teamwork.
We are very proud of you - and what a lovely way to finish a term!

Around 100 children from each of the five schools in The Moorlands Primary Federation joined together to sing and play in the first TMPF Music Concert.
Our young musicians joined performers from each of our TMPF sister schools to wow the large audience with their musical talents. Some of the children have been playing for a few years and some for a few months - each showing their lovely musical skills.

We were delighted to welcome Miss Ainsworth (School Leader at our sister school, The Valley) into school to tell us about the work she does with the Girlguiding organisation to support a school in Mombassa, Kenya.
Miss Ainsworth also told us about how our friends at The Valley sponsor a child's education at the Kididima Primary School which means that a young girl, called Sauma, can receive an education.
Inspired by this, St. Werburgh's C.E. (A) Primary have decided to also sponsor a year's education for a child at the school. To do so, Miss Keeling has organised a non-uniform day on Friday 15th March to raise the £120 needed to fund a whole year's worth of education and to positively change a child's life. Any money raised beyond this amount will be donated to the wonderful Comic Relief charity.
...love one another.

A playground area for all to enjoy.
We are proud that a group of parents from the St. Werburgh's C.E. (A) Primary School family are planning an exciting bid for funding towards equipment for the playground area in our community of Kingsley.
Many thanks to those who were able to offer suggestions.
Good luck!

St. Werburgh’s C.E. (A) Primary are proud to support Children’s Mental Health Week 2019.
In school we will be holding sessions on Mindfulness and yoga, talking to the children about the importance of staying active and healthy and also staging assemblies and activities in class to support children with ways to stay calm and relax. This works well with the number of sports, dance and games sessions to help children to be ‘Healthy: Inside and Out’.
